The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan bids farewell to her role with a heartfelt message as the series wraps. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls), the show stars Brosnahan as Midge Maisel, a 1950s New York City housewife who pursues a career in stand-up comedy after her husband Joel (Michael Zegen) leaves her. Also starring Tony Shalhoub, Marin Hinkle, and Alex Borstein as Midge’s outspoken manager Susie Myerson, the series has become a massive success after its debut on Amazon in 2017.
Earlier this year, Amazon premiered the long-awaited Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4. The latest chapter in Emmy-winning comedy show centers on Midge’s fight to get her career back on track after being fired from Shy Baldwin’s tour, Midge’s brewing romance with Lenny Bruce (Luke Kirby), and Susie building up her managing business. Shortly before the debut of season 4, Amazon announced that Marvelous Mrs. Maisel would be ending with season 5.
For now, plot details for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 remain under wraps, but fans of the series are eagerly awaiting to see what’s next for Midge. Now, Brosnahan has taken to her Instagram to confirm that filming for Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 has wrapped, sharing a heartfelt message to say goodbye to her role with the final season. What We Know About The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Final Season
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won’t have an encore after season 5, but it’s expected that Sherman-Palladino will workshop a satisfying conclusion for the popular series. So far, the cast list for the final installment reveals that many fan-favorite characters from season 4 will return, including talk show host Gordon Ford (Reid Scott), Milo Ventimiglia’s Handsome Man, and Rose’s rival matchmaker, Benedetta (Kelly Bishop). Also set to return is Kirby as the real-life figure of Lenny Bruce. Since Lenny’s introduction in season 1, there has been speculation that the series will feature the tragic death of the famed comedian, which occurred in 1966. For now, it’s unknown if the series will feature a time jump to be able to include the impact that Lenny’s untimely demise would have on Midge.
Of course, the end of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 left a lot to unpack in the final installment. Sherman-Palladino has previously mentioned having The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s final shot crafted for quite some time, and fans will have to wait and see how Midge’s journey on the small screen will end, including her goal of pursuing a career as the host of a late-night talk show. With production now complete on the show’s final season, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 seems likely to debut sometime in 2023 on Prime Video.
