David E. Kauffman – LancasterOnline

David E. Kauffman, 65, of Lancaster entered immortality on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Lititz, after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster on December 2, 1952 he was the son of the late Zane Earl Kauffman and Joan Denlinger Kauffman.

In 1970, David graduated from Manheim Township High School, in Neffsville, and afterwards attended Temple University in Philadelphia. He was a recent convert to Roman Catholicism.

David’s interest over the years included photography, film, video editing, fishing, camping and music. He also held a passion for the discussion of news and current events, musicians and history, which he passed onto his children. David was also an incredible sports enthusiast, being a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and was overjoyed to be able to see the latter win the world championship game.

His favorite musicians included Jerry Garcia, Jorma Kaukonen, Frank Zappa, among many others. He also loved to laugh-an unmistakable laugh-and enjoyed the comedy of personalities including Lenny Bruce, Sam Kinison, George Carlin and many others.

Mr. Kauffman worked as a Title Examiner for thirty years, at one point being part owner of Lancaster Heritage Abstract, Inc. He worked on many extensive title and land transfer projects throughout Lancaster, York and Chester counties. During his professional years he was a well-known presence in the Lancaster County Court House where most everyone-from judges, to clerks-knew his name.

His unconventional jests, quick-witted and dry sense of humor will be sorely missed indeed, although it lives on through his children and grandchildren, all of whom he was genuinely proud.

In 1990, David suffered an incredibly close near death experience which shaped forever the rest of his life. He noted that his time on Earth since then was a daily gift, and frequently reminded people that his miraculous recovery and second chance at life was a blessing he was humbled to possess.

He is survived by his sons: Tyler, fiancé of Brittney Bircher, and Hunter, as well as grandchildren: Tatiana, Dominic, Patrick and Vincent Kauffman, and William and Brielle Bawgus all of Lancaster. Other relatives include cousins Richard McCoy and Laurie McCoy and his aunt Grace Kauffman McCoy all of Denver.

David’s family will greet friends from 6 to 7 PM, followed by a time of sharing at 7 PM, on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A private Requiem Mass as well as interment will be held at a future date.
