And vote for your favourite from Reading
Alex Franklin, a 20-year-old Cambridge natural sciences undergraduate, won last night’s Chortle Student Comedy award heat in London.
He describes his stand-up as ‘Incredibly surreal monologues, combining the deadpan comedy with heavy escalation and chaos. Heavily influenced by modern figures such as Richard Ayoade, James Acaster, and Ken Cheng, but also older comedians like Lenny Bruce.’
He now goes through to the semi-finals in May.
Meanwhile, voting has opened for the People’s Choice from the Reading heat held last week, see below.
The other confirmed semi-finalists so far are Jason Guest, from Cardiff University, Cambridge English undergraduate Ania Magliano, Ally Orr from Lincoln, and Horatio Gould, from Warwick.
