“I wrote this play for many of the Jewish folks on the Upper West Side who knew and loved Lenny and many of them saw Lenny,” Marmo said. “The Box is attracting our crowd that knows and loves and are Lenny fans. It’s also attracting a younger crowd, this Lower East Side, downtown, under-30 crowd that loves The Box, loves a good one-man show, loves art, but doesn’t know who Lenny Bruce was.”
